Poupé-la Postcard

Postcard of the artwork "Poupé-la," meaning "The Doll," which depicts one of the New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies. The Baby Doll Ladies are a dance group that was formed in 2005, inspired by women who marched in Black Storyville in 1912. The Baby Dolls would don silky clothes and bonnets to march during parades, which was unheard of at the time.
 
The name of the piece is depicted along the bottom in both Louisiana Creole (Kouri-Vini) and English.
 
Postcard is 4"x6". Front side is uncoated for writing.
